Solka is a saxophonist, clarinetist, and flutist whose work bridges cubanjazz, funk, klezmer, and Balkan musical traditions. Their performances are structured as narrative arcs, guiding audiences through dynamic, story-driven musical experiences that emphasize both composition and improvisation. Each instrument serves a distinct expressive role within Solka’s artistic voice. The saxophone functions as a warm, lyrical presence associated with urban jazz traditions. The clarinet draws from Middle Eastern melodic influences, often featuring expressive, improvisation passages. As a composer, Solka has written over thirty original works spanning klezmer, jazz, funk, afrobeat, and salsa. Their compositions and performances have been included within projects including Boom Leap Boom (2023) and Still We Bloom (2024). Solka is also the bandleader of Dobry Dobry (“good good”), an ensemble of professional musicians focused on high-level performance, dynamic interplay, and audience participation.
